Kelly Holmes, MS, CIC

Kelly Holmes began working for Infection Prevention and Management Associates, Inc in 2004, and has been certified in the field since 2006. Ms. Holmes has experience in mentoring novice Infection Preventionists and program management in a wide range of healthcare settings including acute care, long term acute care, and rehabilitation facilities. Ms. Holmes developed a comprehensive training process for internal employees and external clients that includes focused support for Infection Preventionists who are studying for certification. Recently, Ms. Holmes partnered with colleagues to develop an inter-rater reliability testing program to enhance application of the National Healthcare and Safety Network surveillance definitions. Ms. Holmes is a contributing author of the updated Infection Prevention and Control Programs chapter of the online APIC text.

Lerenza L. Howard

Lerenza L. Howard, MHA, CIC, LSSGB

Lerenza L. Howard is a board-certified infection preventionist at a Level 1 Trauma Center in Chicago. She has her master’s degree in healthcare administration and green belt certification in Lean Six Sigma. She began her career as a non-clinical microbiologist and subsequently transitioned to the role of a medical technologist working in microbiology and histocompatibility laboratories. She is currently enrolled at the University of Indianapolis’ Doctor of Health Science program where she will focus her studies on public health and health disparities. Lerenza enjoys volunteering in communities within Chicago and the surrounding suburbs whilst mentoring young girls regarding professional development and careers in healthcare and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
